Vol. 1 · Chapter 3
We’re so awesome
“ROOOAAAR!!!”
Once again, the cunning little insect slipped away from between its claws, causing the Desert Goanna to let out a roar of frustration.
Perhaps due to high enough perception and skill attributes, the Goanna’s attacks appeared to Lin Han as if in slow motion, easily dodged.
Besides, at the end of the day, Lin Han wasn’t going to feel fear or tension just because the Goanna looked terrifying, causing his movements to go out of shape and getting himself hurt.
No matter how realistic this game was, it was still just a game.
“No visible health bar, stamina must be judged by oneself, and what skills can be used is entirely up to one’s own exploration…”
Isn’t this game a bit too hardcore? Will anyone really play it like this?
Although Lin Han had begun to doubt whether the game’s difficulty was too high, the corners of his mouth couldn’t help but turn up.
A Masochist?
No, we generally call these kinds of people Soulslike players!
Deep inside Lin Han, the soul of a hardcore gamer was awakening!
Furthermore, as an ordinary person in reality, this was the first time Lin Han could truly experience the power of a Transcendent1 so realistically.
With a casual wave of Lin Han’s hand, the giant rock beside him split open with a boom, turning into dozens of stone spikes that pierced toward the Goanna.
Although most of these stone spikes were deflected by the Goanna’s sharp claws and tail, with only a small portion actually dealing damage, the feeling of mastering such power still filled Lin Han with boundless excitement!
So this is how good Transcendents normally have it?
Lin Han fought with the Goanna with great interest, completely immersed in the game.
However, all these intense and thrilling actions looked as terrifying as a horror movie in Monica’s eyes!
Who am I? What am I doing?
Why is my body moving on its own?
Why can’t I control my body anymore?!
As if a cold, foreign object had rudely entered her body, Monica’s consciousness was still inside, but every inch of her muscles and nerves was completely dominated by another stranger.
She could only watch helplessly as “she” rolled and leaped, with a nimbleness she couldn’t possibly achieve, maneuvering gracefully like a dancer amidst the stormy attacks without taking a single scratch!
This stranger controlling her body didn’t treat himself as an outsider at all, mercilessly squeezing every ounce of potential out of this body.
What was even more infuriating was that Monica found out this stranger used her telekinesis even better than she did!
Where the hell did this bring her? Was this even her body anymore?
“Hello, hello? Can you hear me? Hi? Ciallo?”
“Who are you?”
“Are you that guy I just saw floating in the sky?”
“Can you give my body back to me?”
“I don’t mean right now, just, like, after you finish this fight? Hehe.”
“Hello, hello? Hellooo?”
After a brief moment of confusion, Monica’s big-hearted nature kicked in. Not only did she quickly accept the situation, but she even began frantically “voice-bombing” Lin Han in her mind.
From greetings in eight different languages to inquiring about Lin Han’s identity, and then rambling about her own life experiences…
Lin Han was certain that if he didn’t stop Monica right then, she would end up blurting out her bank card PIN!
“By the way, did you know that last week, I—”
“Quiet, I’m thinking!” Lin Han snapped back irritably.
“Oh, oh! You can hear me!” Monica said in pleasant surprise.
“I’ll give your body back after this fight. Just stop talking for now!”
Lin Han didn’t want to fight the Calamity while being harassed by this seemingly empty-headed girl.
Having received an answer, Monica knew when to stop and obediently fell silent.
After all, the other party was using her body. If any accidents happened, she would be the one to suffer the loss in the end.
People always said Monica was dumb, but she was actually quite smart!
So she sat back comfortably in the best audience seat, watching the “account booster” play.
As for Lin Han, free from the interference of Monica’s loudmouth, the information he knew as a SAVE employee came flooding into his mind…
C-Class Calamity, Desert Goanna. A solitary creature, it was a relatively common Calamity in the wasteland. Its main threats were concentrated in its claws that could cut through iron like mud, and its tail that could shatter concrete; its actual physical toughness wasn’t that high.
Telekinesis was an ability that wasn’t considered rare, but the gap between its lower and upper limits in performance was enormous.
At its lower limit, it might only be able to bend spoons, and even that would take some effort.
As for its upper limit…
Manipulating the sand and soil as effortlessly as moving his own arm to form a dirt wall that blocked the Goanna’s attack, Lin Han looked at the “Telekinesis LV3” written on his status panel.
He recalled how the high-level Telekinesis Ability Users in the SAVE organization he had seen in the past utilized their powers.
Maybe he could do it now too…
Taking a deep breath, Lin Han stood his ground, stretched out his right arm, and opened his hand.
If he made a mistake, the worst that could happen was dying and restarting.
Lin Han was very optimistic.
However, watching the Desert Goanna charge at them like a heavy truck, Monica, who shared her body, was not nearly as optimistic.
If she could have facial expressions, Monica’s face would definitely have gone from calm and collected, to utterly confused, and finally to sweating profusely.
Seeing that they were about to be isekai’d by this fleshy missile, Monica couldn’t hold back anymore and broke their agreement to stay silent.
“Hey, hey, hey, you—”
However, the very next second, she was so shocked by the sight before her eyes that the words caught in her throat.
“Thud!”
The sprinting Goanna suddenly looked as if it had been tripped, crashing heavily to the ground.
Shockingly, its two front limbs had been wrung several times like pretzels, mangled into a bizarre angle and bursting open with bright red flesh and blood!
Blood splattered everywhere, spraying out like a shower of rain, only to be blocked by an invisible barrier in front of Lin Han, not a single drop landing on him.
“It actually can be done,” Lin Han looked at “his” right hand, clenching it into a fist and then opening it. “Applying Telekinesis directly to a living creature’s flesh…”
“It’s not as hard as I imagined, either.”
Inside his body, Monica watched this scene, dumbfounded.
She had never seen anyone use Telekinesis like this before, at least no one around her!
After all, using Telekinesis to manipulate inanimate objects and living creatures were entirely different levels of difficulty!
Before Monica could fully process her emotions, Lin Han had already begun walking step by step toward the Desert Goanna, which was lying on the ground, letting out roars of agony.
If she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes, Monica probably wouldn’t have believed it: a C-Class Calamity, the former little overlord of the wasteland, the monster that had almost killed her, was now in such a pathetic state.
Seeing the grim reaper approaching with deadly steps, a look of fear actually appeared in the Goanna’s eyes, which were larger than a human’s—
It couldn’t understand how, all of a sudden, its opponent seemed like a completely different person!
Was this even fair?
With a wave of his hand, he ripped off the Goanna’s tail, its last remaining means of attack. Then, Lin Han felt his legs go weak and his hands begin to tremble, realizing he had pushed this body almost to its absolute limit.
Silently reciting the principle to kill but not torture, Lin Han gathered stones, compressed them, and reshaped them to create a rather decent giant rock sword.
“Goodbye.”
An emotionless farewell.
The giant sword pierced through the Goanna’s skull, severing its final trace of life.
The dust settled.
The Calamity’s final roar gradually dissipated into the world, leaving behind only the sound of the wind and sand…
Suddenly, Lin Han remembered something and asked Monica,
“By the way, weren’t you trying to say something just now?”
“……”
Monica fell silent.
“Huh? Did I? …Ah, I remember now, I wanted to say…”
“We’re so awesome! Hehe!”
