Vol. I · Chapter 33
Friends
Monica blinked blankly.
She looked at the silver-haired girl who suddenly appeared in the steam.
“Wow.”
Monica opened her mouth wide.
The air was quiet for two seconds.
Then—
“Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Miss P-P-Phil?!”
Monica’s scream almost blew off the bathroom ceiling.
Phil felt her eardrums about to burst, and hurriedly rushed over to try to cover Monica’s mouth.
Unfortunately, she forgot that she was currently in a soul state, and her hand passed right through Monica’s head, making the scene even more frightening.
Monica’s scream rose another octave.
“Passed, passed through! Miss Phil, your hand passed through my head!”
“I know, so can you please stop screaming first?”
“But this is scary!”
“Your screaming is even scarier right now!”
“Uwaaaaaah!”
“I told you to stop screaming!”
The bathroom instantly devolved into chaos.
Then, a worried female voice came from outside the bathroom door:
“Miss Monica? Did something happen?”
Monica froze completely, finally calming down a little.
Realizing that she couldn’t expose Phil’s existence, she stammered:
“I-It’s nothing! I just slipped a little! Haha, hahaha!”
“Are you sure you’re alright?”
“I’m really fine!”
“…Alright then. If you need anything, please call me anytime.”
“Got it, got it!”
The footsteps outside the door gradually faded away.
Monica finally let out a sigh of relief and shrank back down into the bathtub.
Phil crossed her arms, looking at her expressionlessly.
“So, what is your situation right now?”
Monica tilted her head.
“I’m taking a bath.”
As she spoke, she looked down and squeezed the yellow rubber duck floating on the water.
“Quack, quack.”
“…That’s not what I was asking.”
Phil’s gaze subconsciously followed the yellow duck.
Then, Phil suddenly fell silent.
Although there was some foam piled up on the surface of the water, it obviously couldn’t censor a body perfectly like in an anime, and there certainly wouldn’t be any inexplicable beams of holy light appearing over the water.
Because of this, Phil got a thoroughly unobstructed view of absolutely everything, both what she could look at and what she shouldn’t.
“Put your clothes on!”
Phil abruptly turned her head away, her voice much louder than before.
“This is utterly shameless!”
Monica widened her eyes in grievance.
“Who wears clothes while taking a bath? Besides, Miss Phil, you’re the one who suddenly appeared where someone else is bathing. If anyone is being shameless, it’s more like…”
Monica trailed off and suddenly stopped.
Because she realized that Phil genuinely didn’t dare to look at her.
Monica blinked. She suddenly realized this was an opportunity, a chance to make the previously perfect and elegant Miss Phil reveal her true self in front of her.
“Ehhh—”
Monica drew out the syllable.
“Could it be that Miss Phil is feeling shy?”
“…Who’s shy?”
“But Miss Phil doesn’t even dare to look at me, even though we’re both girls.”
Phil screamed in her heart.
Was she really acting that convincingly?
Although she had played the role of Phil so many times, she had always treated it as a kind of immersive roleplay. Deep down, she was still Lin Han.
Having never even had a girlfriend before, when had she ever seen a sight like this?
“Miss Phil has clearly already used my body before, yet now you’re getting shy?”
“Don’t phrase it in such a misleading way…”
Phil stopped mid-sentence, suddenly unable to go on.
Because at some point, Monica had leaned in a little closer and was deliberately waving her hand right in front of her.
Water mist, bubbles, wet long hair, the young girl’s flushed face from the bath…
Phil stared blankly, feeling a wave of dizziness and finding herself utterly speechless.
She watched the water droplets trail down the other girl’s smooth skin, flowing past her flat, soft lower stomach, leaving streaks of water in their wake.
She also saw those massive “evils”; because they were usually hidden beneath a baggy outdoor outfit, it wasn’t until now that Phil realized Monica’s true size.
“Y-you, you, you…”
Phil’s expression finally broke.
“I’m heading out.”
“Eh?”
“Hurry up and wash.”
With that, Phil walked straight through the bathroom wall, fleeing the scene.
In the bathroom, Monica stared blankly at the wall Phil had just phased through.
She looked down at herself, still a bit confused.
“Why such a huge reaction… And do Devils even get shy?”
A yellow rubber duck floated up in front of her, and Monica reached out and gave it a squeeze.
“Quack.”
Some time later.
Monica, wearing a soft white nightgown, threw herself onto the absurdly large bed in the center of the room.
“Wow—”
She hugged a pillow and rolled around on the bed.
“So soft! So big! So comfortable!”
The hem of her nightgown rode up messily from her movements, revealing a glimpse of pure white fabric, but she was completely oblivious.
Phil sat by the windowsill, watching her frolic like an excited golden retriever, feeling a slight headache coming on.
However, since she had already witnessed a much more shocking scene earlier, this level of exposure was no longer enough to faze her. She simply reminded her:
“There is an outsider present. Could you mind your image a little?”
Monica stopped rolling, sat up, and looked around blankly.
“Outsider?”
She looked at the door.
Then she looked at the window.
Finally, her gaze sluggishly landed back on Phil.
“Do you mean yourself, Miss Phil?”
“……”
The next second, the expression on Monica’s face instantly turned pitiful.
“Miss Phil, I thought we were already friends.”
Hugging her pillow, her voice was soft and sounded a bit wronged.
“So we aren’t…”
Being friends with a Devil eyeing your soul? That would be far too careless…
Phil originally wanted to reply coldly, “We are not friends,” but seeing Monica’s pitiful expression, she just couldn’t bring herself to say the words.
Ultimately, although she was a bit silly and loud, she didn’t actually dislike Monica.
Phil thought for a moment and prepared to say, “Even if we are friends, you should still mind your image.”
But the words stopped at her lips.
If, by any chance, she personally admitted they were friends, would this golden retriever get carried away?
Besides, she didn’t know how female friends actually interacted with each other anyway.
Perhaps it really was this casual…?
Realizing she actually couldn’t refute Monica made Phil a little frustrated, so she decisively changed the topic.
“So what’s the situation now? Where are you?”
Monica blinked first, then suddenly let out a “hehe” laugh, falling back onto the bed and rolling around.
“Miss Phil admitted we are friends!”
“Listen to the main point, and I didn’t admit it!”
“You didn’t deny it just now, ehehe…”
“…”
Monica rejoiced for quite a while before finally getting down to business.
“Anyway, after you disappeared, Miss Bai Yu brought me here. This is SAVE’s recuperation facility.”
“And then they did a lot of checks… drew blood, tested my mana, asked questions, and there were a lot of instruments I couldn’t understand…”
Monica babbled a lot of things, finally summarizing:
“But it seems there’s no problem with the final results. The doctor said I just need to rest and can leave tomorrow.”
“Oh oh oh, right, I got a huge amount of money!”
At the mention of money, Monica’s eyes instantly lit up.
“Bonus! Compensation! It’s my first time seeing so much money!”
“I’m rich! Wahahahaha!”
