Vol. I · Chapter 35
My Brother Seems to Have Been Tricked by a Bad Woman
Phil glanced at the night scenery outside the window and figured it was about time.
“Let’s leave it at that, then. See you tomorrow morning.”
“Eh?”
“What is it now?”
“Are you leaving already, Miss Phil?”
Monica looked at her pleadingly.
“It’s not every day we get to stay in such an incredible place, and the bed is so huge. Aren’t you going to stay and sleep with me, Miss Phil? I’m completely not used to staying by myself.”
Phil took a deep breath.
“What nonsense are you spouting?”
“Because doesn’t this feel exactly like a sleepover with a friend!”
As Monica spoke, she shifted over on the bed and very generously patted the empty space.
“This side is saved for Miss Phil. We can even stay up chatting half the night.”
Phil was now beginning to regret tacitly accepting the “friend” label earlier.
To think Monica had already learned to use the title of “friend” to blatantly make all sorts of strange requests.
This golden retriever was visibly becoming more and more clingy.
But Phil’s physical body was still lying in the Simulation Capsule, and she had no desire to sleep in the Simulation Capsule overnight.
“No, I have to leave.”
Monica immediately showed a disappointed expression.
“I see…”
However, her disappointment only lasted for three seconds. As if she didn’t know how to spell discouragement, she said:
“Then we’ll set off at eight tomorrow morning! Miss Phil, don’t be late!”
Monica waved at Phil.
Watching Phil’s figure fade away into the air, Monica lay spread-eagled on her bed and muttered to herself:
“Hmm… at least Miss Phil didn’t object to being called a friend…”
“Next time, I definitely have to make this sleepover wish come true!”
“Actually, Miss Phil is a really good person too, or should I say, a really good Devil? Hmm… is that a compliment for a Devil?”
Monica began to dwell on silly questions.
Lin Han sat up from the Simulation Capsule, feeling that chatting with Monica brought a different kind of exhaustion than physical fatigue.
That girl was way too energetic; as a corporate slave at heart, he couldn’t quite handle it.
He walked out of the room, intending to get a glass of water from the living room. However, just as he pushed the door open, he noticed the living room lights were still on.
The heartbreaking voices of a man and a woman came from the TV.
“Brother! You clearly said you would protect me forever!”
“But we are brother and sister!”
“But I waited for you for ten years! What does that childhood friend of yours count for? Does she love you as much as I do?!”
“…”
Lin Han stood at his room’s door, silent for two seconds.
What on earth was this?
Jiang Wanfeng was still curled up on the sofa, just in a different posture. The TV was no longer showing Magical ★ Pretty Girl, but a melodramatic late-night family ethics romance drama.
Lin Han poured a glass of water, stood by the sofa watching for a while, his expression twisting more and more as he watched.
In the drama, the male lead had just discovered he and his little sister were not related by blood, while his childhood friend was crying and confessing in the rainy night. The three of them stood under the same roof, the background music so sorrowful it made one want to log onto NetEase Cloud Music to vent.
Lin Han took a sip of water.
“What the hell are you watching?”
Jiang Wanfeng was watching intently and didn’t even look up.
“You don’t understand, this is called dramatic tension.”
“I only see communication barriers between a bunch of weirdos. Are there even any normal human beings in this show?”
“I just like this kind of stuff. It’s boring if it’s too normal.”
Lin Han placed his cup on the coffee table.
“Stop watching and go to sleep.”
“No way—”
Jiang Wanfeng hugged her throw pillow tightly, dragging out her voice coquettishly,
“I’m right at the climax. Besides, you haven’t gone to sleep either, Bro, have you?”
Lin Han glanced at her and realized he didn’t really have the ground to criticize Jiang Wanfeng.
Thinking that she didn’t have classes tomorrow anyway, Lin Han finally stopped urging her and turned around to head back to his room.
But after taking two steps, he suddenly stopped.
Tomorrow…
A date…
Truth be told, Lin Han had never been on a proper date with a girl in his entire life, so he really didn’t know what to do, of course, going to the mall with Jiang Wanfeng and carrying her bags didn’t count.
Thinking of this, Lin Han suddenly had an epiphany.
Was he an idiot?
Wasn’t there a girl right next to him?
So, Lin Han turned back around.
“Wanfeng, let me ask you a question.”
“Hm?”
Lin Han thought carefully about his wording.
“What should you usually do when on a date with a girl?”
On the TV, the female lead was still crying.
Jiang Wanfeng, however, froze as if someone had pressed the pause button on her. A few seconds later, her head slowly turned over, her gaze somewhat vacant.
“A date… with a girl?”
She repeated the words, using a tone that for some reason made Lin Han a bit afraid.
But Lin Han still braced himself and said:
“From a girl’s perspective, could you give me some advice?”
Jiang Wanfeng’s mind buzzed, her thoughts instantly thrown into chaos.
She tried hard to keep her expression calm and let out a sound:
“Heh—”
“…What kind of reaction is that?”
“It’s nothing…”
Jiang Wanfeng tried her best to ask in a casual tone:
“Going on a date with your girlfriend?”
“What are you thinking? I’m just asking for a friend.”
Jiang Wanfeng narrowed her eyes, saying playfully,
“Well, so Bro actually has a female friend close enough to go out with now.”
“Stop gossiping and just answer the question.”
Jiang Wanfeng suddenly lost interest.
She leaned back against the sofa and casually said,
“For a date, the guy should take the initiative.”
“Initiative?”
“Yeah, like planning the itinerary in advance so the girl doesn’t have to keep making decisions. Also, pay attention to what the other person likes; don’t just focus on having fun yourself.”
“What else?”
“It’s best to show off your strengths. Like being gentle and considerate, or reliable and mature.”
As Lin Han listened, his expression gradually turned weird.
This definitely sounded like advice for a guy going on a date with a girl.
The problem was, he wasn’t going out as Lin Han tomorrow, but as Phil.
None of this seemed useful.
Lin Han pondered for a moment, then asked again,
“Then how do you girls go out on dates with each other?”
Jiang Wanfeng’s brow furrowed slightly, her expression becoming even more subtle.
She had absolutely no idea what Lin Han was doing right now, but after a moment, she still answered honestly,
“It’s much simpler between girls, right? Going out to eat and drink, looking at clothes, browsing accessory shops, catching dolls, taking pictures, buying some small things. Anyway, whether it’s a date between a guy and a girl or whatever, the point isn’t what you do, it’s whether you’re happy when you’re spending time together.”
“Then what topics do you girls usually talk about when you go out?”
“That depends on the relationship, right?”
“Like… just normal friends?”
“School, clubs, recently watched dramas, favorite shops, clothes, desserts, complaining about people we know…”
Jiang Wanfeng thought for a moment, and Ye Tao’s glowing face from this morning appeared in her mind, so she added,
“There’s also a universal topic.”
“What?”
“Romance gossip.”
Jiang Wanfeng added,
“Although I’m not really interested in it myself, a lot of girls do like to talk about this. Anyway, you generally can’t go wrong talking about this among girls.”
Lin Han nodded seriously.
“I see.”
Jiang Wanfeng looked at him taking notes so earnestly, her mood becoming even more complicated.
“You’re not actually going to use that, are you?”
“…Can’t I?”
It was the first time Jiang Wanfeng had seen such a bewildered expression on her bro’s face.
A few seconds later, Lin Han finally realized that he seemed to be acting stupid, so he quickly ran away before his glorious older brother image completely collapsed.
Jiang Wanfeng sat on the sofa, watching Lin Han’s back disappear behind the door.
The more she thought about it, the more something felt wrong.
Very wrong.
She was silent for a while, picked up her phone, and opened the group chat named [Magical Girl Tea Party].
Jiang Wanfeng stared at the input box for a few seconds, then typed a line of text with a serious expression.
Two seconds later.
Another few seconds passed.
